Road Safety Council reminds people not to drink and drive during festive season

The following is issued on behalf of the Road Safety Council:

     Road Safety Council members today (October 27) held the Traffic New Territories North Anti-Drink Driving Campaign 2013 Kick-off Ceremony cum Road Safety Carnival at Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square, Ting Kok Road, Tai Po, to promote the anti-drink driving message during Halloween.

     Through participating in the game booths and the kick-off ceremony, members of the public could learn about the danger of drink driving and understand the possibility of injuring others.

     The Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Dr Eric Cheng, said, "We would like to promote the 'If you drink, don't drive' message through this event."

     He reminded people that in addition to education and publicity efforts, a series of police operations will be carried out targeting drink driving during the festive period. These operations will be conducted at any time and anywhere throughout the territory.
