A special screening of Hong Kong's box-office hit this summer "The Way We Dance" was held at the Asia Society in New York today (October 25, New York time). The film will also be screened at the Paramount Center in Boston on October 27.

The two film events are sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York (HKETONY), in partnership with the Asia Society and the Asian CineVision in the New York screening, and with the Boston Asian American Film Festival, a production of Asian American Resource Workshop in Boston. The film programmes form part of the cultural programmes to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the HKETONY.

The film director Adam Wong attended a press conference at the HKETONY joined by the organisers this afternoon. Later in the evening he met the movie fans at a post-screening question-and-answer session in the Asia Society.

He will also meet the audience in Boston where "The Way We Dance" will be the closing night film at the Boston Asian American Film Festival 2013 on October 27.

The film has been funded by the Hong Kong Film Development Fund which aims to engage local upcoming directors, nurture talents and promote long-term development of the film industry in Hong Kong. Since its expansion of funding scope to cover small to medium-budget film productions in 2007, a total of 27 applications so far have been approved involving total funding of US$9.95 million.

Injecting the local film industry with a breath of fresh and youthful air, "The Way We Dance" is about youth hip hop in Hong Kong featuring some of the city's best street dancers. Lead actress Cherry Ngan is nominated for the 50th Golden Horse Film Awards in the Best Actress category for her debut performance. Shing Mak is nominated for the Best Action Choreography. The film has already garnered the Audience Award at the Fukuoka International Film Festival 2013.

The post-screening question-and-answer session at the Asia Society will be uploaded onto its website on or after October 28.
