Post-office appointment for Ms June Teng Qun-june
*************************************************

The Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials has advised the Government on the proposed appointment of former Information Coordinator, Ms June Teng Qun-june, after leaving the Government on August 1. Ms Teng proposed to accept appointment as a member of the Governing Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Volunteers.

The Advisory Committee considers that, subject to observance of certain restrictions it has advised, the proposed appointment of Ms Teng would not cause any potential conflict of interest. The Advisory Committee also did not anticipate adverse public reaction or public perception problems arising from the proposed appointment. On the basis of the Committee's advice, the Government has approved the post-office appointment proposed by Ms Teng subject to those restrictions.

In considering each case, the Advisory Committee has regard to the information provided by the former official concerned under special appointment, the assessments by relevant government bureaux or offices, and the criteria for advice as stipulated in the guidance notes on post-office employment for officials under special appointment.

Details of the case above are available on the Advisory Committee's website (www.ceo.gov.hk/poo/eng/index.htm).

The membership of the Advisory Committee is as follows:

Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi (Chairman)
Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung
Professor Liu Pak-wai
Ms Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah
Ms Elaine Lo Yuen-man
