Government proposes to lay submarine outfall on Lantau Island

     The Government intends to carry out sewerage works in South Lantau to discharge treated sewage to the sea. The works will include laying a submarine outfall of about 350 millimetres in internal diameter and about 1 100 metres in length within an area of about 4.36 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed at San Shek Wan, Lantau Island.

     The works are scheduled to commence in early 2016 and to be completed by early 2021. The extent of the area affected is stated in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (October 25).

     The notice together with its related plan is posted on notice boards near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Survey and Mapping Office of the Lands Department, 23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong (where copies can be purchased on order); at the Islands District Office, 20/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong; and on the Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk) under Government Notices.

     Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong by December 25, 2013.
