Appointments to Clearing and Settlement Systems Appeals Tribunal and Process Review Committee in connection with Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance

     The Chief Executive has made the following appointments to the Clearing and Settlement Systems Appeals Tribunal (CSSAT) for a three-year term with effect from November 4, 2013, and to the Process Review Committee in connection with the Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance (Cap 584) (CSSO) for a three-year term with effect from December 1, 2013:

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, said, "We welcome the new appointments. I am confident that with their expertise and experience, the appointees will contribute to the effective operation of the CSSAT and the Process Review Committee."

     The CSSAT is a statutory tribunal established under the CSSO to hear appeals by any person who is aggrieved by a decision of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) on designation of a clearing and settlement system and related matters.

     The Process Review Committee is an independent committee established by the Chief Executive to review the processes and procedures adopted by the HKMA in relation to the oversight of a clearing and settlement system in which the HKMA may have a legal or beneficial interest.

     The above appointments were gazetted today (October 25).
