The Government today (October 24) announced that the Financial Secretary, in exercise of the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, had re-appointed Mr Paul Shieh Wing-tai as the Deputy Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Appeal Board (MPFSAB), and four incumbent panel members, namely Mr Kenny Chan Ngai-sang, Ms Agnes Chan Sui-kuen, Dr Stella Cho Lung Pui-lan and Ms Giovanna Kwong Fung-ping.
The Financial Secretary also appointed Ms Lau Yuk-kuen, Mr Gerry Ng Joo-yeow and Mr Terry Pan San-kong as the MPFSAB's new panel members.
The appointments are for a term of two years with effect from October 25, 2013.
The Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Ms Julia Leung, welcomed the re-appointments of the incumbent Deputy Chairman and four incumbent panel members, and the appointments of the three new panel members.
"The MPFSAB comprises professionals from various areas of expertise and experience in the operation of the financial market," Ms Leung said.
"We believe that the newly appointed and re-appointed panel members, with their expertise and professional background, will continue to uphold the impartiality of the MPFSAB under the chairmanship of Mr Michael Stuart-Moore."
Ms Leung also paid tribute to outgoing panel member Ms Benita Yu Ka-po for her contribution to the MPFSAB.
Newly appointed panel member Ms Lau is a solicitor and currently serves as one of the chairmen of the Transport Tribunal. Mr Ng and Mr Pan are asset management professionals and have vast experience in the financial market.
The MPFSAB is established in accordance with Section 35 of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (MPFSO) to determine appeals against the decisions of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority as specified in Schedule 6 to the MPFSO.
