With regard to the media enquiries about Executive Council (ExCo) Non-official Members' participation in cases where there may be conflict of interest, the ExCo Secretariat today (October 23) responds as follows:
The Secretariat wishes to emphasise that Members adhere strictly to conflict of interest rules in all cases. Where there is a perceived conflict of interest, the ExCo Member concerned should withdraw from the discussion, and will not be provided with any papers or relevant parts of the minutes of the meeting. Details of the Member's declaration and withdrawal will be recorded in the minutes.
