The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 1 138 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent, when compared to that in August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 23).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 263 704 (see attached table), with a total of 400 344 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and single parent cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.5 per cent and 1.1 per cent to 9 306 cases and 29 844 cases respectively. Unemployment cases also dropped by 1 per cent to 22 068 cases. Old age cases and permanent disability cases both decreased by 0.2 per cent to 151 820 cases and 18 486 cases respectively.
Ill-health cases remained steady at 25 240.
