Immigration Division of Chengdu Economic and Trade Office begins operation

     The Immigration Division of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu (CDETO) has commenced operation, providing assistance for Hong Kong residents in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Shaanxi provinces and the municipality of Chongqing.

     Hong Kong has three immigration divisions on the Mainland, stationed in the Beijing Office (BJO), the Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) and the CDETO. The immigration divisions provide assistance for Hong Kong residents in distress, covering matters such as loss of identity documents, accidents and casualties, and being arrested or detained for criminal offences.

     Apart from the area covered by the CDETO and the five provinces/regions covered by the GDETO, namely Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, requests for assistance from Hong Kong residents in the remaining 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities will continue to be handled by the BJO.
