Secretary for Justice to visit Beijing and Tianjin

     At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Central Peoples' Government, the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, will lead a delegation of the Department of Justice (DoJ) to visit Tianjin on October 22 and 23 to further strengthen legal co-operation and exchanges with the Mainland.

     Joined by the Law Officer (International Law), Ms Amelia Luk, and the Law Draftsman, Mr Paul Wan, Mr Yuen will call on the senior officials of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and will also meet with the officials of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Justice and the Tianjin Bar Association to further enhance communication and co-operation with the legal community in Tianjin.

     They will also visit Tianjin's port facilities to understand the city's latest infrastructural developments.

     Mr Yuen will then visit Beijing on October 24 and 25. He will meet with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Supreme People's Procuratorate to exchange views on legal issues of mutual interest. The Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Keith Yeung, SC, will join the visit programmes in Beijing.

     Mr Yuen will conclude the visit by giving a talk to the law students of Peking University at a seminar organised by the university.

     Mr Yuen will return to Hong Kong in the evening of October 25.
