The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will leave for Beijing tomorrow (October 15).
During his stay in Beijing, Professor Cheung will attend the MTR Corporation Limited Board meeting and visit the headquarters of Beijing MTR Corporation Limited to see for himself the railway development there.
He will pay a courtesy call on officials of the State Railways Administration and China Railway Corporation. In accordance with the plan on the State Council institutional reform and transformation of government functions, the State Railways Administration and China Railway Corporation were established in March this year following the restructuring of the defunct Ministry of Railways. He will also call on officials of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
Accompanying Professor Cheung on the visit will be the Director of Highways, Mr Lau Ka-keung, and Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport), Ms Rebecca Pun.
Professor Cheung will return to Hong Kong on October 17 night.
