Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on October 14 (Monday) to facilitate two events to be held on Hong Kong Island.

I. Race walking in Central

From 00.01am to 11.59pm

     The Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct will be implemented.

From 7am to 3.30pm

A. Road closure

     In additional to the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct, the following sections of roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic:

- Eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queen's Road Central;
- Ice House Street between Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central except for access to car parks;
- Eastbound Queensway between Des Voeux Road Central and Murray Road;
- Westbound Chater Road between Murray Road and Jackson Road; and
- The western kerbside lane of Murray Road between Chater Road and Queensway.

B. Traffic diversion

- Vehicles along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central will be diverted to Pedder Street;
- Vehicles along Ice House Street will be diverted to Queen¡¦s Road Central except for access to car parks;
- Chater Road between Murray Road and Jackson Road will be re-routed from eastbound to westbound traffic;
- Vehicles along Club Street must turn right to westbound Chater Road;
- Vehicles exceeding seven metres in length along westbound Connaught Road Central cannot turn left to Club Street; and
- Vehicles exceeding seven metres in length along Lambeth Walk will be diverted to Murray Road.

II. Public procession

     A procession will depart Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct at 4.30pm for Rodney Street pavement outside Harcourt Garden and United Centre, and Queensway northern pavement outside United Centre via eastbound Des Voeux Road Central and eastbound Queensway. Police will intermittently close some traffic lanes along the procession routes when necessary.

     Actual implementation of special traffic arrangements will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to drive with care and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police on site.
