Transcript of remarks by SCED on tourism
****************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media after attending the opening ceremony of Hong Kong Silvermine Bay Music Festival 2013 today (October 12):

Reporter: Is it possible to lower down the number of Chinese visitors?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: As I indicated, we will need to have a very robust tourism industry because it employs a large percentage of our workforce. I think the best way forward is to enhance our capability to receive and to give a more comprehensive experience for our tourists to come visit Hong Kong, so therefore I think the way forward is to assess the capacity, enlarge the capacity so that on the one hand, we will have a very robust tourism sector; on the other hand, we will not overload our capacity to affect the livelihood of people. Thank you.
