The 18th Conference of Housing & Urban Public Corporations in Asia (A-HUC) hosted by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) was held today (October 10) at the Housing Authority Headquarters.
The HKHA hosted the Conference this year to coincide with the 60th anniversary of public housing development in Hong Kong. The year 2013 is also the 40th anniversary of the HKHA, which was founded in 1973.
In addition to hosting organisation the HKHA, joining the Conference were the other three member organisations: the Housing and Development Board of Singapore, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation of Korea and the Urban Renaissance Agency of Japan.
These four housing organisations of A-HUC take turns to hold the Conference annually. This regional platform helps to promote knowledge exchange and experience-sharing in the latest developments and technology application in public housing development. The theme for this year's conference was "In Quest of Sustainability: Public Housing in an Ever-changing Compact City".
