The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (October 9, Moscow time) officiated at the opening ceremony of the exhibition "A Journey to Hong Kong" at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Moscow.

The exhibition is part of the Hong Kong Week series of events staged by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government in Moscow, with other programmes including a Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra ensemble concert and a film festival. The exhibition will run until the end of the year.

At the opening ceremony Mr Tsang said that it was the first time the HKSAR Government has mounted such a large-scale exhibition in Moscow, adding that the exhibition marks a milestone in the development of stronger ties between Hong Kong and Russia.

"We hope to introduce Hong Kong's glamour as the 'Pearl of the Orient' to the Russian people by showcasing the city's outlook and social life in the exhibition. The highlights of Hong Kong culture are its East meets West nature, history combined with innovation, a multi-faceted society and unlimited creativity. I believe that Russian people would be very much attracted by these highlights," he said.

Mr Tsang also visited the Winzavod Centre for Contemporary Art in the morning.
