FEHD cancels licence of Tsuen Wan restaurant
********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene cancelled the licence of a restaurant in Tsuen Wan today (October 9).

The operator of the restaurant, Yaichi Ban Bashu Grill Shop, located at shop D on the ground floor of Iau Kin Building at 48 to 68 Hau Tei Square, repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the business area.

"In July this year, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $9,750 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in May. A total fine of $2,600 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in July.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
