The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (October 8, Moscow time) met with the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Mr Grigory Ivliev, in Moscow to explore ways of boosting cultural exchange and co-operation.
During the meeting they reviewed developments following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Co-operation in September 2011 and were glad to note that mutual exchanges have increased in the areas of exhibitions, performing arts and music. They also discussed ways of co-operating in the training of talents in arts and culture.
Mr Tsang also gave a briefing on the latest progress with the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Prior to the meeting Mr Tsang visited the Bolshoi Theatre, which is a Moscow landmark and plays an important role in contributing to the development of performing arts in Russia. Mr Tsang will also make a courtesy call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation later today.
