2013 Summit on District Administration to be held this month and November

     The 2013 Summit on District Administration will be held this month and in November to explore ways to improve district administration.

     A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department said, "The theme for the 2013 summit is enhancing the roles of District Councils (DCs) and District Officers. Four thematic forums will be held so that participants will have ample time to exchange views and have thorough discussions with senior government officials on the relevant issues, with a view to further enhancing district administration.

     "Relevant principal officials, permanent secretaries and heads of departments will join the forums."

     Details of the four thematic forums are as follows:

October 28 (Monday) at 2.30pm
Venue: Youth Square, Chai Wan
Topic: Vibrant and compassionate community, and culture and sports in the districts

November 1 (Friday) at 2.30pm
Venue: Tai Po Community Centre
Topic: Transport, town planning and public housing development

November 4 (Monday) at 2.30pm
Venue: Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre
Topic: Environmental hygiene and street management

November 11 (Monday) at 2.30pm
Venue: Wu Shan Road Community Hall, Tuen Mun
Topic: Building management and maintenance

     After the thematic forums, the 18 DC Chairmen and Vice-chairmen will represent the DCs to report the major views and outcomes of the discussions to the Chief Executive on November 21 and to exchange views with the Chief Executive on related issues.
