HKADC nomination exercise voting figures

     A total of 2,885 voters (provisional figure) cast their votes in the exercise on the nomination of representatives of arts interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) in 2013 during the two-day polling which ended at 10pm today (October 7). The voter turnout rate is 33.9 per cent.

     The ballots are being counted at the polling centre in Mong Kok Community Hall, L2, Mong Kok Complex, 557 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok. The final voting results will be issued once available.

     A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau said the list of nominated representatives would be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration of appointment to the HKADC. Members will assist in the planning, promotion and support of the broad development of arts in Hong Kong. The new term will start on January 1, 2014.

     Cross-arts interest voting has been adopted this year. Voters from the ten arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in all of the ten arts interests, i.e., arts administration, arts criticism, arts education, dance, drama, film arts, literary arts, music, visual arts and Chinese opera (Xiqu).
