Helicopter accident
*******************

A Hong Kong Aviation Club (HKAC) Robinson 22 helicopter with registration number B-HJN toppled during low-level hover training at Sek Kong Airfield and suffered damage at around 4.15pm yesterday (October 6). An instructor and a student pilot were on board. No one was injured.

The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) was informed by the HKAC that the aircraft had a heavy landing. Having obtained further details, the CAD determined that it was an accident. The Chief Inspector of Accidents ordered an inspector's investigation in accordance with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation (Investigation of Accidents) Regulations (Chapter 448B). The objective of the investigation is to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident with a view to the preservation of life and the avoidance of accidents in the future. The preliminary report will be released in about one month's time.

After discussion with the CAD, the HKAC decided to suspend all their flight operations including fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters with immediate effect.
