Police arrested a 19-year-old woman suspected to be in connection with an infanticide case in Wong Tai Sin last night (October 4).
At about 9.20pm last night, Police received a report that a baby body was found inside a plastic bag in a refuse collection room at Lung Shing House of Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate. The newborn baby boy, with an umbilical cord, was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.25pm.
Police arrested the 19-year-old woman near Lung Shing House this afternoon (October 5). Initial investigations revealed that the woman was suspected to have abandoned the baby after she gave birth to the baby boy inside a flat at Lung Shing House.
The woman was arrested for infanticide and is being detained for further enquiries.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Monday (October 7) to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.
Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Wong Tai Sin are under way.
