Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement the following special traffic arrangements this Sunday (October 6) to facilitate the holding of two public processions on Hong Kong Island.

A. Road closure

From noon onwards (traffic lane of the following roads will be intermittently closed):

- Sugar Street;
- Eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- U-turn slip road leading from eastbound Yee Wo Street to westbound Causeway Road;
- Westbound Leighton Road;
- Keswick Street; and
- Pennington Street.

From 2.45pm onwards:

- Gloucester Road U-turn slip road between southbound Gloucester Road and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Sugar Street;
- Jardine's Bazaar;
- Tang Lung Street; and
- Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street.

From 3.15pm onwards:

- Southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
- Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- Westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- Westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
- Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
- Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- Westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road;
- A slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Southbound Fleming Road between Hennessy Road and Thomson Road will be intermittently closed; and
- Eastbound Thomson Road between Fleming Road and Johnston Road will be intermittently closed.

B. Traffic diversion

From 2.45pm onwards:

- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street cannot turn left to Jardineˇ¦s Bazaar;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

From 3.15pm onwards:

- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted to westbound Gloucester Road service road if necessary;
- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover if necessary;
- Traffic along eastbound Great George Street must turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except for vehicles heading for southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to westbound Irving Street (except for vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along westbound Irving Street must turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along northbound Yun Ping Road must turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road; and
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to eastbound Thomson Road.

C. Suspension of bus stops, public light bus (PLB) stand and green minibus (GMB) stand

- The PLB stand at Sugar Street will be suspended from 2.45pm;
- The GMB stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.45pm; and
- All bus stops along Irving Street, westbound Yee Wo Street and westbound Hennessy Road will be suspended in phases from 3.15pm.

D. Restriction on access to / exit from car parks

     All car parks along westbound Hennessy Road and in the affected areas may be closed at short notice if necessary. In addition, vehicles may not be permitted to leave or enter car parks in the affected areas during the road closure period.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above will be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
