SCED to attend APEC Ministerial Meeting in Bali

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Bali, Indonesia, tomorrow (October 3) to attend the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting (AMM) to be held on October 4 and 5.

     On October 4, Mr So and ministers will attend the AMM opening plenary to listen to the reports of the Chairs of the Senior Officials Meeting and the APEC Business Advisory Council.

     The next day (October 5) Mr So will attend breakout sessions, during which ministers will discuss APEC and the evolving regional economic architecture, as well as attaining the Bogor Goals and APEC's support for a successful 9th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), to be held in Bali, Indonesia in December this year.

     After the breakout sessions, Mr So will participate in the AMM plenary session to discuss with other ministers how to achieve sustainable growth with equity and the APEC framework on connectivity.

     Mr So will also hold meetings with his ministerial counterparts to exchange views on bilateral trade relations and issues of mutual concern on the sidelines of the AMM.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong on October 6.
