Police warn public procession participants to stop occupying traffic lane

     Without prior notice to Police according to the law, protestors conducted a public procession from Central to Western District today (October 1). Though appeals and warnings have been issued to the protestors, they refused to cooperate and occupied one traffic lane of Queen's Road Central. Police will implement crowd safety management measures according to the situation and consider taking appropriate action to stop such acts.

     Police anticipate that inconvenience may be caused to public and road users and appeal for their understanding and tolerance.

     Police respect the publicˇ¦s freedoms of expression, speech and assembly. It is the policy of Police to facilitate all lawful and peaceful public events while at the same time ensuring public safety and public order. Members of the public should also comply with the laws of Hong Kong and social order when expressing their views.

     We reiterate that no law-breaking acts will be tolerated. Police will handle all illegal activities in a fair and impartial manner irrespective of the backgrounds of the suspects.
