Revised principal postage rates take effect today
*************************************************

Hongkong Post reminds the public that the revision of principal postage rates takes effect today (October 1). Mailers are reminded to ensure payment of sufficient postage for their postings to avoid mail delays and the payment of a surcharge by the addressees.

The updated version of the Postage Rates and Services brochure, which sets out the revised postage rates, is available at all post offices and can be downloaded from the Hongkong Post website www.hongkongpost.hk.

To facilitate mail preparation, Hongkong Post is today issuing two new stamps bearing "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications respectively. The "Local Mail Postage" stamps, priced at $1.70 each, can be used for sending mail items weighing not more than 30 grams to local addresses in Hong Kong. The "Air Mail Postage" stamps, priced at $3.70 each, can be used for sending airmail items weighing not more than 20g (irrespective of the zoning of the destination) for which the postage does not exceed $3.70. In addition, starting from today, new stamp booklets of "Local Mail Postage" stamps and "Air Mail Postage" stamps, together with low-value definitive stamp packs, will be on sale at convenience stores and other non-post office outlets. Reel stamps bearing "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications will also be available at all electronic stamp vending machines from today.

For further information, customers may call the Hongkong Post enquiry hotline at 2921 2222 or visit Hongkong Post's website and the Hongkong Post mobile app.
