Additional show of ballet "Anna Karenina" (with photos)
*******************************************************

The pioneering Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg, with its breathtaking contemporary choreography and striking reinterpretation of Leo Tolstoy's epic novel "Anna Karenina", will open the "World Cultures Festival 2013-Lasting Legacies of Eastern Europe" this October. To meet overwhelming public demand, an additional performance of the ballet will be held on October 19 at 2.30pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. Tickets are available for sale now at URBTIX.

Renowned Russian choreographer Boris Eifman's epic "Anna Karenina" epitomises the unorthodox repertoire of this master of "psychological ballet" and the daring exploration of controversial topics that has brought him great international acclaim. A much-admired character of Russian literary giant Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina dares to love while staying true to her feelings and defying social norms, making her a role model for modern women. Here, a scorching Anna is brought to life in Eifman's innovative contemporary interpretation. Driven by passion, the alluring beauty restlessly chafes against her gilded aristocratic life while her turbulent, angst-filled relationships with both husband and lover are powerfully depicted through searing routines and athletic, highly charged performances.

Limited tickets for "Anna Karenina" are still available for the other two performances to be held at 7.30pm on October 18 and 19 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. The additional performance will be held at 2.30pm on October 19. Tickets priced at $150, $250, $350, $450 and $550.

Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and their minders, and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Other booking discounts of up to 20 per cent are available.

Programme brochures are available at URBTIX outlets or at the festival website www.worldfestival.gov.hk.
