********************************************************

The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, and the National Day Delegation from the Educational Sector of Hong Kong 2013 today (September 28) visited Tianjin to continue their professional exchange activities.

The Delegation comprises more than 100 Hong Kong education workers, including representatives of education organisations, advisory committees and tertiary institutions as well as teachers and principals of kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools.

The delegates visited the Yangliuqing Ancient Town in Tianjin in the morning, followed by the Tianjin Cultural Centre, including the Tianjin Museum and Opera House, in the afternoon. They also attended a thematic talk to get better understanding of the historical, cultural and economic developments in Tianjin.

In the meantime, Mr Ng met with the Director General of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Mr Wang Jing, to exchange views on a variety of education issues.

"Tianjin is implementing its 12th five-year plan for education, with focuses very similar to Hong Kong's concern, such as pre-primary education, vocational education and information technology in education, etc.," he said.

"Therefore, Tianjin and Hong Kong can have more communication and learn from each other especially in such areas, and we should continue to promote exchanges and collaborations between the two places," he said.

Mr Ng and the Delegation returned from Tianjin to Beijing in the evening.
