FEHD orders Shau Kei Wan restaurant to suspend business for four weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Shau Kei Wan to suspend business for 28 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor at No. 4 Mong Lung Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (September 28) to October 25.

"In September and October last year, a total of six convictions on the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $54,000 was levied by the court and 150 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," the spokesman said.

The licensee lodged an appeal to the Licensing Appeals Board, which decided the licence be suspended for 28 days in place of its cancellation.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
