******************************************

The Town Planning Board today (September 27) announced the publication of the draft Pak Lap Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Pak Lap Outline Zoning Plan covers a total area of about 6.8 hectares. It is located at the southern coast of Sai Kung Peninsula and is enclosed by Sai Kung East Country Park, with its south side opening towards the scenic Pak Lap Wan.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention for Pak Lap is to protect its natural and rural character which complements the overall naturalness and the landscape beauty of the surrounding Sai Kung East Country Park and to make provision for future Small House development for the indigenous villagers of Pak Lap.

About 2.37 hectares of land is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised village of Pak Lap and provide land considered suitable for village expansion.

Two sites of about 0.02 hectares in total area are zoned "Government, Institution or Community" to reflect an existing temple and reserve land for provision of a Government refuse collection point and a public convenience to serve the needs of local residents and tourists.

About 1 hectare of land is zoned "Agriculture" to retain fallow arable land with good potential for rehabilitation for cultivation and other agricultural purposes.

The wooded areas of about 3.41 hectares in total area at the periphery of Pak Lap are zoned "Conservation Area" to protect and retain the existing natural landscape, ecological or topographical features of the area for conservation, educational and research purposes and to separate sensitive natural environment such as Country Park from the adverse effects of development.

The draft Pak Lap Outline Zoning Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, the Sai Kung District Office and the Sai Kung Rural Committee.

Any person may make written representations in respect of the draft plan to the Secretary of the Town Planning Board on or before November 27.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the Town Planning Board's website at www.info.gov.hk/tpb.
