***************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesman today (September 25) announced the service arrangements of two General Out-Patient Clinics (GOPC) of the Authority. The services of Tung Chung GOPC will be relocated to the new North Lantau Community Health Centre from September 30 (Monday) while the services of Central District Health Centre GOPC will be suspended from October 1 (Tuesday) due to renovation.

With the service commencement of North Lantau Hospital on September 24, the services of Tung Chung GOPC (address: 1/F, 6 Fu Tung Street, Tung Chung, Lantau, New Territories) will be relocated to North Lantau Community Health Centre (address: 3/F, North Lantau Hospital, 8 Chung Yan Road, Tung Chung, Lantau, New Territories; booking Tel: 3157 0106) from September 30. The clinic opening hours and services will remain unchanged.

On the other hand, the services of Central District Health Centre GOPC (address: G/F, 1 Kau U Fong, Central, Hong Kong) will be temporarily suspended from October 1 to facilitate renovation works for improvements in facilities and the environment. The clinic's services are scheduled to resume in March 2014 upon completion of the renovation.

According to the HA spokesman, patients with chronic illnesses or requiring nursing care services including wound care and medication injection have already been informed and arranged to attend follow-up appointments at Sai Ying Pun Jockey Club General Out-patient Clinic (address: 1/F, 134 Queen's Road West, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong) during the renovation period. Patients with episodic illnesses are advised to make appointments at nearby GOPCs in the Hong Kong West Cluster (please see the appendix for details) via the telephone booking system. Service arrangements would be made by the clinics to cope with the demand in the renovation period.

"In view of the above new service arrangements of the two GOPCs, the relevant hospital clusters have already informed the public as well as residents in the districts through various channels, including poster notices, information leaflets, reminder messages in the GOPC telephone booking system and briefings to respective District Councillors," the spokesman added.
