The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) hosted a reception at the Musée d'Aquitaine in Bordeaux, France on September 23 (Bordeaux time) at the opening of the Hong Kong Film Panorama in the city.

The 2012-2013 edition of the annual touring Hong Kong Film Panorama, which is organised by the HKETO, Brussels to showcase recent Hong Kong films, has already been held in Lisbon, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Florence, Lisbon, Madrid and Rome.

Six films will be screened at the Hong Kong Film Panorama in Bordeaux between September 23 and 27, namely, Ann Hui's "My Way" and "A Simple Life", Herman Yau's "Love Lifting", Fung Chih-chiang's "The Bounty", Bill Yip's "The Cure" and Derek Yee's "The Great Magician".

To coincide with the Hong Kong Film Panorama, Meriadeck, the municipal library of Bordeaux, will exhibit 11 Hong Kong photographs from September 9 to October 30. The works, on loan from the HKETO, Brussels, include nine black and white art photos from the Hong Kong Vision series by Belgian photographer Jean-Dominique Burton and two contrasting colour photos. The library will also display a selection of books about Hong Kong to present the city's developments in different areas.

The Hong Kong Film Panorama was one of the cultural events staged in Bordeaux in 2012 on the occasion of Hong Kong's participation in the Bordeaux Wine Festival as Guest City of Honour. The Deputy Representative of the HKETO, Brussels, Miss Drew Lai, told guests at the opening reception that it was a great pleasure to bring the Panorama back to Bordeaux for a second edition, noting that the cultural exchange was a sign of the close friendship that continues to flourish between the two cities.

Miss Lai took the opportunity to encourage guests to come to Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival and the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair in October and November. She added that, among other things, the Bruce Lee exhibition which opened recently at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on the 40th anniversary of the kung fu superstar's demise, was well worth a visit.
