The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (September 18 ) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 27 persons for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of sports and recreation, arts and culture and community greening.

Speaking at the SHA's Commendation Scheme Presentation Ceremony 2013, Mr Tsang expressed his gratitude to the awardees for their contributions in the areas of arts and culture, sports and recreation as well as community greening and their efforts at fostering the well-being of Hong Kong over the past years.

Mr Tsang said, "The awardees from different sectors have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to long-term hard work in silence to build up a better Hong Kong, and they deserve credit and commendation. We hope that their unremitting efforts and enthusiasm in serving the community will inspire more people to join hands in propelling the city forward."

The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to the development of sports, culture and arts, community building and community service. In parallel, the Government launched the "Hong Kong: Our Home" city-wide public participation campaign this year to promote care, mutual help, solidarity and social cohesion in the community.
