Police launches mobile application version 2.0 (with photos)
************************************************************

With refreshing design and enriched content, version 2.0 of the ¡¥Hong Kong Police Mobile Application¡¦ (HKP Mobile App) was launched today (September 18) to enable users to easily gain access to more police information.

¡§Four new features, namely Wanted/Missing Persons, Crime Statistics, Crime Prevention Advice and Traffic Matters, are introduced to the HKP Mobile App,¡¨ a Police spokesman said.

The appeals in the Wanted/Missing Persons are synchronised with those in the Police Public Page with a view to drawing public attention effectively.

Statistics of 10 key crimes, including wounding and serious assault, all robberies, all burglaries, serious drug offences, snatching, pickpocketing, taking conveyance without authority, street deception, rape, and indecent assault, are now available in the HKP Mobile App.  The figures can be shown in territory and regional basis or in comparison for the same period of this year and last year.

The latest crime alerts, seasonal tips and cyber crime information can be found under Crime Prevention Advice while information on road safety events and tips, what to do after accidents and the contact information of regional traffic reporting centres can be found under Traffic Matters.

The content of Notification of Public Meeting/Public Procession is also enriched. Together with the relevant information, the applications are displayed in a calendar format.

The spokesman said the index page and layout in version 2.0 was a complete facelift by adding auto-rolling banners and icons to make it more user-friendly.

The rolling e-banner on the top of the index page highlights new items, latest alert or key messages, such as the Hong Kong Police YouTube, Wanted/Missing Persons, Crime Statistics and Crime Prevention Advice.  The icons at the bottom are other police information, namely Press Release, Clarification/Response to Media Enquiry or Report, Notification of Public Meeting/Public Procession, Traffic Matters, Recruitment and Contact Us.

The contemporary design of sliding menu is also introduced and usage tips will appear when the version 2.0 is downloaded and operated for the first time.

The HKP Mobile App was first launched in July 2012 for members of the public to obtain the latest police information at anytime and from anywhere.

The latest version of the application can be obtained¡@via the ¡§App Store¡¨ and ¡§Google Play¡¨ through smart phones.

Further details of the HKP Mobile App are available on the Police Public Page at www.police.gov.hk.
