The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 596 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared with July, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 18).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 264 842 (see attached table), with a total of 409 221 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.2 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 22 294 cases and 9 445 cases respectively. Single parent cases and old age cases decreased by 0.6 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 30 176 cases and 152 077 cases respectively.
Ill-health cases and permanent disability cases registered slight increases of 0.3 per cent and 0.4 per cent to 25 236 cases and 18 520 cases respectively.
