An inter-departmental exercise simulating a hill fire and mountain rescue operation was held in Sai Kung East Country Park, New Territories, this morning (September 17).
The departments involved were the Fire Services Department; the Hong Kong Police Force; the Government Flying Service; the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department; the Auxiliary Medical Services; the Civil Aid Service; the Home Affairs Department; the Social Welfare Department; and the Hospital Authority.
The exercise aims to enhance co-ordination and communication as well as command and control capabilities among different departments during hill fire and mountain rescue operations. It also tests the effectiveness, efficiency and compatibility of the fire-fighting, rescue and communication equipment being used by different emergency formations.
