Wounding case reclassified as attempted murder

     Police today (September 16) reclassified a wounding case in Mong Kok on September 14 as attempted murder.

     At about 10.30am on September 14, Police received report that an 81-year-old man was lying unconscious in a park on Sham Mong Road, Mong Kok.

     Police officers sped to the scene and located the man. Sustaining cut wounds on his abdomen and injuries to his head, he was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment in unconcious state. A wooden plank was seized at scene.

     Police yesterday (September 15) arrested a 69-year-old man in suspected connection with the case. Initial enquiries revealed that the man had assaulted the victim with a wooden plank and a knife due to money dispute.

     The 69-year-old man was holding charged with one count of attempted murder today. He will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 17).

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Mong Kok are under way.
