Correctional officers stopped an assault on an inmate in Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Centre today (September 16).
At about 7.50am, a quarrel broke out between two male inmates inside the dining hall. A 28-year-old male inmate suddenly punched another 46-year-old male inmate in the face. On-duty officers immediately stopped the assault and separated the two inmates. The victim was found conscious at the time.
Both the victim and the assailant were examined and treated in the centre hospital. The victim was later transferred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
Both inmates were sentenced for the offence of possession of a dangerous drug.
