The Highways Department today (September 13) invited tenders for the "Provision of Barrier-free Access Facilities for Highway Structures - Phase 3 Contract 2" (Contract No. HY/2013/11).
The works are expected to commence in January 2014 and will take about 36 months to complete. The works will mainly comprise:
* construction of 19 lifts and two ramps for 12 existing footbridges and four existing subways at 16 locations in Central and Western District, Sha Tin, Tai Po, North District, Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, and Tuen Mun;
* civil works, geotechnical works, electrical and mechanical works, site investigation works, modification works for existing structures, road and drainage works, and landscaping works, etc, associated with the works above; and
* other site investigation works as specified in the Contract in addition to the site investigation works described above.
Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located on the Ground Floor, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. Submission of tenders will be closed at noon on October 25, 2013 (Friday).
The Major Works Project Management Office of the Highways Department has appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd to design and supervise the construction works. Interested contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from the office of Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd at 7/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
