Correctional staff find inmate attempting self-harm

Correctional Services officers found a female inmate attempting self-harm at Lai King Correctional Institution today (September 11).
The 16-year-old inmate was suspected of trying to harm herself by swallowing a foreign object inside the dormitory of the institution.
She was preliminarily treated at the Centre Hospital and subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further treatment. Her condition is stable and she will be given psychological counselling afterwards.
The inmate was sentenced to training centre in 2010 for breach of probation order.
