The spokesperson of Prince of Wales Hospital made the following announcement today (September 6):
Seven child patients (four male and three female, aged 1 to 4) of the inpatient ward of the Children's Cancer Centre have presented with influenza symptoms since September 2. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for these children and their results were positive for Influenza A.
One of the children has been discharged. The other six are still hospitalised and are being treated under isolation with stable condition.
Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to the established guidelines. All child patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection.
