Issue of "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" stamps on October 1
************************************************************

Hongkong Post announced today (September 6) the issue of two stamps bearing "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications respectively on October 1 (Tuesday).

Adopting the designs of the Heartwarming Stamps issued in 2003, the two stamps bear indications of "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" instead of the usual stamp denominations. The "Local Mail Postage" stamp, priced at HK$1.70 each, can be used for sending mail items weighing not more than 30 grammes to local addresses in Hong Kong. The "Air Mail Postage" stamp, priced at HK$3.70 each, can be used for sending airmail items weighing not more than 20g (irrespective of the zoning of the destination) for which the postage does not exceed HK$3.70.  Mailers can purchase these two stamps at the General Post Office and the Airport Post Office from October 1 and at all post offices from October 2.

Starting from October 1, a new stamp booklet of "Local Mail Postage" stamps and "Air Mail Postage" stamps, together with low-value definitive stamp packs, will be on sale at convenience stores and other non-post office outlets.  The two stamp booklets are sold at $17 (containing 10 "Local Mail Postage" stamps) and $37 (containing 10 "Air Mail Postage" stamps) respectively, and the three definitive stamp packs are sold at $1 (containing ten $0.1 stamps), $2 (containing ten $0.2 stamps) and $5 (containing ten $0.5 stamps) respectively. Reel stamps bearing "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications will also be available at all electronic stamp vending machines from October 1.

"The new stamps, reel stamps, stamp booklets and stamp packs will facilitate mailers in posting preparation when the new postage rates take effect on October 1," a Hongkong Post spokesman said.

The new stamps carrying "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications will be on sale until the issue of a new set of definitive stamps, details of which will be announced later. Meanwhile, the current set of definitive stamps on the theme of Hong Kong birds will remain in use and will continue to be available for sale at post offices.

Advance orders for the new "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" stamps, the stamp booklets and reel stamps adopting the new designs, as well as serviced self-provided covers with the Philatelic Bureau Postmark of October 1, 2013, will be accepted at all philatelic offices from September 11 to September 21. The orders will be fulfilled on October 30.
