The spokesperson of Tung Wah Hospital made the following announcement today (September 4):
Five patients (aged 44 to 84) in a male medical ward have presented with fever or respiratory symptoms since August 28. Appropriate viral tests were arranged and the test results of the five patients were positive to Respiratory Syncytial Virus. The patients are being treated under isolation and are in a stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
