Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan tonight (September 1) in which a 48-year-old woman died.
About 8.30pm, a private bus driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along westbound Chai Wan Road. On reaching the junction of Chai Wan Road and Kam Yuen Lane, the private bus reportedly knocked down a 48-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 9 pm.
The private bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
The case will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island.
