The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Environmental Affairs visited the North East New Territories (NENT) Landfill today (September 1) to observe the actions taken to deal with the leachate leak incident at the NENT Landfill.
Members first received a briefing by the officials of Environmental Protection Department (EPD) on the leachate leak incident and the actions taken. Accompanied by the Deputy Director of Environmental Protection, Mr Tse Chin-wan, Members then observed the damaged leachate lagoon of the Landfill to know about the latest situation of the incident.
Panel members participating the site visit included Ms Cyd Ho (Chairman of the Panel), Mr Wu Chi-wai, Mr Gary Fan, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Dr Elizabeth Quat and Dr Lo Wai-kwok, as well as non-Panel Members including Ms Emily Lau, Mr Leung Kwok-hung and Dr Fernando Cheung.
