Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media after attending the closing ceremony of Hong Kong Ani-Com Summer 2013 cum prize presentation ceremony of Mascot Design Competition today (August 31):
Reporter: Has ATV appealed yet? If so, can James Shing take part in any of the structuring of ATV...?
Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I have just explained this in Chinese and I will repeat it in English. The Communications Authority has already indicated Mr James Shing is not a fit and proper person, and in order to have control of a licensee, you will need to be a fit and proper person. A fit and proper person, in terms of exercising control, will include directorship. So Mr Shing will not be able to assume executive director position or a honourary director position. As to whether anybody would like to take a position within a licensee, that would depend on the nature of that position, and I have full confidence that the Communications Authority will handle this matter appropriately.
