In response to a recent incident concerning the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) cardiology unit, the Hospital Authority (HA) previously announced that it will establish an Independent Review Committee at the Head Office level to receive reports to be submitted by two expert panels set up by PWH.
The HA today (August 30) announced the membership of the Independent Review Committee, which includes Mr Pang Yiu-kai (Chairman of the Committee), Dr Donald Li and Professor Maurice Yap. Brief profiles of the members are attached. The Committee will be assisted by the HA Director (Quality and Safety) for policy and procedural support and will also seek independent professional advice from an international expert.
The Independent Review Committee will consider the findings of the reports and review the management and clinical governance aspects as involved in the incident. The Committee will recommend follow-up actions as appropriate to ensure the quality and safety of clinical care.
