The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will leave for Russia next Tuesday (September 3) to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit to be held in St Petersburg on September 5 and 6 as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China.
The G20 is the leading international co-operation forum, focusing on the most important international economic and financial issues. The 2013 Summit will mainly discuss boosting economic growth and job creation. It will also discuss the latest developments in the global economy and financial system.
In addition to the G20 Leaders' Summit, meetings between Mr Tsang and top Russian officials are also lined up to strengthen economic and financial ties between Hong Kong and Russia.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on September 8. In his absence, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will act as Financial Secretary.
