Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Sunday (September 1) to facilitate  public processions to be held on Hong Kong Island.

A. Road closure

Phase 1

     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 12.15pm:

(a) Sugar Street;
(b) Eastbound Yee Wo Street;
(c) The U-turn slip road leading from eastbound Yee Wo Street to westbound Causeway Road;
(d) Westbound Causeway Road;
(e) Westbound Leighton Road;
(f) Keswick Street; and
(g) Pennington Street.

Phase 2

     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 12.45pm:

(a) Westbound Marble Road;
(b) Southbound Kam Hong Street;
(c) Westbound King¡¦s Road;
(d) Westbound Irving Street;
(e) Westbound Yee Wo Street;
(f) Westbound Hennessy Road; and
(g) Queensway.

Phase 3

     The following roads will be closed from 2.15pm:

(a) Rodney Street;
(b) A section of westbound Harcourt Road between the exit of Harcourt Garden car park and Tamar Street;
(c) The fast lane of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
(d) A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
(e) Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park);
(f) The fast lane of Garden Road flyover; and
(g) A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

B. Traffic diversion

     The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 2.15pm:

(a) Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near the exit of Harcourt Garden car park
will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
(b) Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road will be diverted to turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
(c) Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
(d) Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park); and
(e) Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place.

C. Suspension of bus stops

     All bus stops along eastbound Queensway and westbound Harcourt Road between Rodney Street and Cotton Tree Drive will be suspended from 2.15pm in phases until traffic resumes normal.

D. Suspension of green minibus (GMB) stand and taxi stand

     The GMB stand and taxi stand at Admiralty (East) Public Transport Interchange will be suspended from 2.15pm until traffic resumes normal.

E. Restriction on access to / exit from car parks

     All car parks in the affected areas may be closed at short notice if necessary. Vehicles may not be permitted to access or leave car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above might be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of road closure and traffic diversion will be made by the Police at the time depending on traffic conditions in the areas. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of Police at scene.
