A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau said today (August 29) that a total of 29 candidates had been validly nominated for the exercise of the Nomination of Representatives of Arts Interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) in 2013 (the Nomination Exercise 2013). Eligible voters may vote on October 6 to 7, 2013 to return the representatives of 10 arts interests (Arts Administration, Arts Criticism, Arts Education, Dance, Drama, Film Arts, Literary Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Chinese Opera (Xiqu)) for the Chief Executive's consideration of appointment as members of the HKADC for the next term.

Candidates for the respective arts interests are at the Annex.

To enable voters to learn more about the candidates, a candidate forum will be organised on September 14 (Saturday) from 10am to 6.30pm at Mong Kok Community Hall, L2, Mong Kok Complex, 557 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok. At the forum, candidates will present their platforms and answer questions from voters.

Polling is scheduled for October 6 to 7. Cross-arts interest voting will continue to be adopted this year. Voters from the 10 arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in all of the 10 arts interests. A list of the nominated representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration of appointment to the HKADC for the next term, which will begin on January 1, 2014.

The Nomination Agent will send letters containing candidates' platforms to all voters next week. If voters do not receive the letters by the end of next week, please make inquiries with the Nomination Agent at 2232 3932.
