LegCo Subcommittee on Poverty concludes its duty visit to Taiwan and Japan (with photo)

     The Subcommittee on Poverty of the Legislative Council's House Committee concluded its duty visit to Taiwan and Japan today (August 29).

     The delegation leader and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Poverty, Mr Frederick Fung, said that the duty visit enabled Members to gain a better understanding of the experience of Taiwan and Japan in poverty alleviation.

     "The information obtained during the visit has provided useful reference for us and is also beneficial to the Subcommittee's work in monitoring and studying the Administration's measures and policies on poverty alleviation," Mr Fung said.

     On its last day of visit to Japan, the delegation visited the Independency Support Centre FurusaoNoKai, which provides people in need with accommodation and consultation etc. Members of the delegation met with the NGO's representatives and learned about its services.

     The delegation departed Tokyo and flew back to Hong Kong in the evening.
